This is to advise you about an administrative change that the Payroll Department will be implementing regarding the deduction of Blue Cross premiums for Extended Health Benefits from Clerical/Technical and Custodial/Maintenance/Bus Drivers’ Pay cheques. Currently, one deduction is made each month which means that there can be a considerable fluctuation in the pay cheque amounts from one pay to the next. In order to address this concern, effective September 2014, the Division will begin splitting this deduction on a 50/50 basis between the 2 pay cheques each month to help even out cash flow for employees.
We trust that this change will be received positively by your members as this is in response to feedback that we have received. I will be posting a message on the Clerical Conference to advise the Clerical/Technical Group about this change and will send a memo to Custodial/Maintenance and Bus Drivers.
On behalf of the Executive and all the members we would like to congratulate our brothers and sisters – Germaine Sabot, Cecile Lamoureux, Flo Berard, Roger Carriere and Larry Boitson .
Also congratulations to our brothers and sisters that have completed 25 years of service with the Division – Anne-Marie Plamondon, Maria Dunsmore, Christine Thioux, Liliane Pilotte, Sharon Chaikowski, Sandra Cruse, Marie Davies, Shannon Falkenberg, Paulette Nolin, Lorraine Kreitz, Karen Chubey, William Mars, Joel Durand, Wendy Desrochers, Steven Pagee, Audrey House, Sylvia Corrigal, Garry Leclerc, Guy Laroche.
Congratulations to all of you and thank you for everything you do…..
Rallies last week took place all across Canada,
including three events here in Manitoba. We called for the Harper government to
renew the Health Care Accord with Manitoba and every other province and
territory. For Manitoba, $1.3 billion in health care funding is at stake, over
ten years. But it isn’t just about funding, it’s about investing in and
protecting public sector jobs. Prime Minister Stephen Harper is encouraging
provinces to rely on the for-profit sector to deliver health care.
